Chlorine is a known cause of fatigue. Because chlorine has been found to have an effect on serotonin levels, a chlorine-free shower means you’ll have more energy to get your day moving in the right direction.
Save your skin
Chlorine is known to be drying. Showering chlorine-free means your skin and hair will be softer and smoother. Plus, reduced hair loss is always a bonus!
In the news: “Chlorinated water can destroy polyunsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E in the body while generating toxins capable of free radical damage (oxidation). This might explain why supplementation of the diet with essential fatty acids like flax seed oil, evening primrose oil, borage oil and antioxidants like vitamin E, selenium and others helps so many cases of eczema and dry skin.”
Inhaling chlorine can have just as much of a negative effect as through ingestion and skin absorption. Chlorine has been found to aggravate asthma, and especially so in the case of children who tend to spend a significant amount of time in chlorinated swimming pools.
Spend less money
Without the chlorine in your bathing water, your body’s natural moisturizers will be able to do their job – meaning less money is spent on lotions and moisturizers.
Reduce your risk of cancer
Because chlorine is a carcinogen, bathing in chlorinated water will only increase your risk of cancer. In particular, chlorinated water has been linked to the occurrence of bladder and intestinal cancers. The greatest risk was found to be present in those who had been consuming chlorinated water for 35 years or longer. In Ontario alone, chlorinated water could be causing more than 500 cases of cancer and about 140 deaths each year, according to a study published by Health Canada.
